Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday took a dig at veteran Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, asserting that the party will not taste success in poll-bound Maharashtra. Equating the election battle with that of a ‘Rahul Baba’ plane, Amit Shah said the aircraft crashed 20 times in the past and will do so again for the 21st time.
“Sonia ji tried to land the plane named ‘Rahul Baba’ 20 times and the plane crashed 20 times. Now again, an attempt is being made to land the plane for the 21st time in Maharashtra. Sonia ji, your ‘Rahul plane’ is going to crash for the 21st time,” Amit Shah said at a rally at Jintur in Parbhani district.
The Home Minister accused the Congress of deliberately stalling the construction of the Ram Temple at Ayodhya for many years.
“PM Narendra Modi got the Ram Temple built and the Kashi Vishwanath corridor which was demolished by Aurangzeb. Now, you should be ready to visit Gujarat as the Somnath temple is also being made of gold,” he said, adding that PM Modi made the country safe and prosperous.
Amit Shah asserted that the Maha Vikas Aghadi will be “wiped out” from Maharashtra once the counting of votes is taken up on November 23.
“I have visited all the places like Vidarbha, North Maharashtra, West Maharashtra, Konkan, Mumbai and Marathwada. Do you want to know the result of the Maharashtra Assembly elections? Listen to me, on November 23, the Maha Vikas Aghadi is going to be wiped out from Maharashtra. On November 23, the Mahayuti (grand alliance) government will be formed here under the leadership of Modi ji,” he said.
Lashing out at Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, who was once a BJP ally, Amit Shah said the former was in alliance with those who opposed renaming Aurangabad to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
Attacking the Congress, the Home Minister said Rahul Gandhi’s fourth generation would not be able to bring back Article 370 that granted special status to the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Rahul Baba’s party, Congress, and his colleagues have passed a resolution in Kashmir to bring back Article 370. Rahul Baba, listen carefully, not only you, but even if your fourth generation comes, it cannot bring back Article 370,” he said.
Polling in Maharashtra, which has 288 Assembly seats, will be held in a single phase on November 20.
