Description
The Watko Manufacturing Co. made doll furniture for the small dolls that were so popular around the middle of the 20th Century. It was marketed by the Alexander Doll Co. for their 9" Cissette doll and also by the Cosmopolitan Doll and Toy Co. for their 8" Ginger. The sets included several living room and bedroom styles, kitchen table and chairs and this patio or beach furniture. The furniture is now rather hard to find and especially in nice condition as some of the materials used were fragile. The frames are made of heavy bent wire which tended to darken or oxidize and the vinyl used on many of the pieces was prone to tearing and staining.
This is the chaise lounge chair. The bent aluminum frame is covered with the red and white striped vinyl pads. It has a pocket on each end to slide over the metal frame chair. It measures 9.5” long x 5” wide x 3.5” tall
The chair frame is in great condition with no bending or oxidation. There is a small tear on the bottom of the stripe pad and a little wear at the ends.
