DETAILED DESCRIPTION:
OFFERED WITH A VERY LOW OPENING BID PRICE & NO RESERVE! For your consideration, I offering a lovely vintage pickle castor with a rare Millefiori Art Glass jar insert set on an unmarked silverplate frame. The glass insert measures 4 1/2" tall x 3" opening, in very good condition with no issues to the glass. The frame stands 9.25" tall x 7" across. There is a *C* shaped side hook verses a shepherd style upright hook to hold the pickle fork or tongs in place. It is my opinion this pickle castor likely had a silverplated pickle or olive fork based on the hook style. The pickle tong that comes with this pickle castor is a Victorian silverplate tong with hands (this is how the pickle castor was originally sold in 2017 by Woody Auctions LLC in Kansas, (see auction photos). I have located these antique tongs on ebay for .00+, and that's just for the tongs.
PROVENANCE: This pickle castor comes from the life long estate of Mr. Emerson & Freda Moore of Kansas who collected high end fine art glass and rare pickle castors for over 60 years. This 'exact' pickle castor had an auction estimate of 'up to 0.00' plus a 20% buyers premium and tax when offered by Woody Auctions LLC in Douglas, Kansas on Feb. 18th, 2017, lot #0199, please see attched photos 11&12.
