Description
Circa early 1880s, Victorian Arts & Crafts Movement silver-plated spoon warmer with ebony handle, designed by Christopher Dresser. Made by Hukin & Heath, of Birmingham and London, UK. This rare model No. 2693 spoon warmer is stamped with the "H&H" hallmark in three individual circles, along with an eagle in a circle, and the number "2693". Examples of this piece are in the collections of Historical Design in New York City and the Kirkland Museum of Fine and Decorative Art in Denver, Colorado, among other galleries and museums.
Measures appx. 5" high x 6-1/8" long x 4-1/8" wide.
Item shows some wear, a small scratch on the top, several shallow dings along the top of the base, and a patch of silver plate that is tarnished (it didn't come off with a light polishing). Missing a rolled cap or connector at the entrance to the water vestibule. This missing bit can be viewed on the websites of the above mentioned galleries. Please view photos.
