    Description

    Acquired in Berlin, Germany by a family member during the 1950's,
    and now offered for your own antique silverware collection,
    a lovely matched set of 8 antique early 1900's
    German WMF Silverplated Figural Sitting Dog Knife Rests.
    SAFELY STORED FOR OVER 70 YEARS - 7 DECADES,
    ALMOST THREE QUARTERS OF A CENTURY!
    Each Knife Rest measures approximately 3½" long,
    Sitting Dogs are 7/8" long x 1" tall.
    Base metal is believed to be pewter.
    Silverplate has worn along Dog's heads and backs,
    but Dog's faces, legs, sides are still detailed.
    Very hard to discern,
    but was able to photo the WMF early 1910 mark
    showing a running ostrich in a beehive with a clear top.
    The beehive mark was introduced in 1909,
    and this version of the
    beehive with clear top was introduced in
    June 1910 for the French market.

    The Knife Rests are uncleaned,
    with normal patina and storage wear for being over a Century old,
    as even a little bit of original patina removal should be left up to the
    potential buyer who may feel the same about
    any change to the original finish.
    They would make a very unique and special gift,
    a wonderful addition to any antique silverware collection,
    or simply enjoy using them yourself.
