This antique silver plate dish has wonderful handmade details like fine etching, repousse flowers and (my favorite) the very slightly different shapes of the two handles. Made by William Hutton & Sons of Sheffield, England and marked with crossed arrows so circa 1902 or slightly later.
This piece has the scrolls and curves of Art Nouveau style. The pictures show the details well but this is much nicer in person. It measures 14” across from handle to handle and 10” wide and rests on 4 ball feet. The condition of this is exceptional with no real signs of age or use. No scratches, dents or loss of silver, just a few light scratches on the bottom. It was probably packed away and forgotten about, which is a shame since it’s so pretty. It’s been freshly polished so it’s gleaming and ready to display or give as a gift.
