    Description

    We are offering for sale an exquisite, silver plated, covered, serving dish manufactured by Birmingham, England firm of Ellis Barker. The company was organized in 1820 and became Barker Brothers in 1860. The company opened up an American branch in New York City in 1897, where a full line of items were introduced. In 1931, the firm purchased the Ellis Silver Company also of Birmingham, England and became known as Ellis Barker. They manufactured items with a copper base, heavily electroplated with silver with mounted handles, borders and edges. This is a good sized serving piece measuring 11 inches long, 8.50 inches wide and 5 inches high and has the Pineapple mark used in October of 1901. The cover has a gorgeous, repousse design hammered onto it that shows flowers and leaves intermingled with scroll work. An intricately designed top border of clusters of leaves over a lined design frames the stunning and removable, open handle. The border around the serving dish has the identical design as on the cover border but larger. It all presents as a special, antique piece that will impress when serving guests. Other than a wear mark on the bottom inside of the serving dish, the covered server is in
