Description
For you to consider is an elaborate antique silver on copper finely etched and reticulated double handled pedestal centerpiece bowl. Dating to the early 1900's, this remarkable centerpiece was likely created by hand by a craftsman of great skill and bears no hallmark. Measuring approximately 10" in diameter (13.5" from handle to handle), the bowl stands approximately 4.75" in height on a 5.5" diameter pierced quadrant twist pedestal base decorated with an English gadrooned band. The scalloped and fluted bowl is an open fretwork of nine pierced panels, each separated by decorative etched foliate scrollwork, and is finished at the lip with an applied foliate surround that's enhanced with scrolled and floral detailing. Two open scrolled handles are found at the sides. Mild plate loss is seen with the copper shining through in a few random areas, most notably to the raised peaks of the decorative details, but this isn't glaringly obvious or distracting. Otherwise, the centerpiece is in beautiful antique condition with no dents, damages, or compromising imperfections found. Wear is commensurate with age and history of use so please review the photos as they are a descriptive part of the listing. We welcome your questions and are delighted to answer! Thank you for looking!
