Dale Pendell's PharmakopeiaOriginal Absinthe Recipe
USDA Organic herbal mix
Brewing instructions included, just add alcohol!
All
Organic
Mix:
Wormwood, anise, fennel, star anise,
hyssop,
lemon balm, coriander, and calamus root.
Item
: Two bags with dried organic herbs for making absinthe. First bag contains one ounce of organic Wormwood for the first brew stage. Second bag contains the remainder of the organic herbs needed for brewing absinthe, including over two full ounces of anise and fennel. This recipe will yield a very unusual Absinthe brew with a VERY heavy licorice or anise flavor. All herbs are certified USDA organically grown!
Fresh
wormwood is needed to give the authentic green color of traditional European Absinthe. Or you can use some fresh parsley.
My other formula for sale on eBay is far more palatable.
For licorice lovers only
. One customer could not stomach the taste at all and threw it away. I won't drink it myself. I love the other formula. But your taste may vary, just like your reality may vary...
Directions
:
In a glass container, add the wormwood pack to one quart of alcohol, mixed 151 Rum and Vodka, or Everclear. Set aside in a dark place for four days minimum (you get the majority of the thujone) to 10 days maximum (all the thujone, but
also
a very bitter taste) and let sit, stirring once daily.
Strain out the wormwood and squeeze the alcohol out of the herbs. Then add all the remaining herbs and spices in second pack. Wait four more days, then strain these out and bottle.
Traditionally imbibed by mixing half & half with cold water. Add a teaspoon of sugar, if desired to sweeten. Or dribble a little into a tall, clear glass with added ice and cranberry juice.
