Description
This is from Grandma's estate, NOT a thrift store purchase!Circa 1880-1890. Victorian-era silverplated castor or cruet set with four etched glass bottles.
Two bottles are standard cruets with glass stoppers, and flange necks.
One bottle has a screw-in silver top with holes in it for shaking.
One bottle has a hinged silver lid with an opening for spoon (unfortunately, I don't have the spoon)
Tray is plain and revolves.
Measures approximately 13.5” tall x 6.5” diameter (rack). Base is 4.25” in diameter.
Inside the bottom of the base is s
tamped Meriden 542, Wilcox Silverplate Co, Quadruple Plate.
I have cleaned it with the "Aluminum Foil, Baking Soda, Boiling Water" technique, followed with some Wrights Silver Cream. I didn't take off all the tarnish, but I wanted you to see the quality and beauty of the silver.
I have checked the bottles and I find no chips, cracks, or damage. I'm not an expert, but I think this is really a lovely piece.
