This is a classic Victorian PICKLE CASTOR with a beautiful Cranberry satin art glass Jar or Insert. It is decorated with a raised gold enamel branch with gold leaves and bright white flowers, tiny black squiggly twigs fill the background. The decor fills the front and sides - the back of the jar is undecorated.
The silver plated Frame appears to have been marked twice - originally "Triple Plate" and a pattern number '50_' - topped with an applied disc: TAUNTON Silver Plate Co. - Quadruple Plate. The company operated for just a brief period from 1853-1859 in Taunton, Massachusetts.
